Electrical Journeyman Service Technician

Job Description

The Electrical Service Technician role is to have complete oversight of electric work orders, maintenance and all aspects of field management and administration. An entrepreneurial role that requires self-motivation, direction, and accountability. This includes the planning, coordination and lay out of the work ensuring that materials, tools, equipment, and information are in the proper places at the proper time to meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. The technician will in most cases be the customers only in person interaction with Impower therefore it is required that he/she completely embrace and demonstrate high standards in all aspects of their work and attitude always.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, investigate and problem solve to enhance efficiency
Develop an understanding of our scope and budget with Service Manager prior to starting work
Ability to create quick and accurate material takeoffs and estimate hours needed for tasks
Identify and seek opportunities to upsell or increase contracted scope when executing work
Coordinate, plan and document all required testing
Ensure that all installations comply with the NEC and local AHJ requirements
Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders (i.e. vendors/subs/owners)
Establish and maintain safeguards to prevent damage, theft or loss of material and equipment along with tracking inventory of service vehicle
Maintain a clean, orderly and neat appearance at the worksite representing Impower positively
Maintain daily communication with service department staff to confirm schedules, obtain work order numbers, process material orders, maintain paperwork and convey challenges
Seek and identify sales opportunities by developing strong client relationships based on trust
Maintain a high degree of respect when dealing with customers to develop a lasting partnership
Have the ability to work flexible hours, shifts, locations and be on-call with reasonable notice
Maintain the service vehicle in a neat and orderly fashion at all times and track inventory
Oversee completely and be responsible for self and crew productivity, quality and workmanship
Make decisions and judgement calls in the field and be accountable for those decisions
Willingness to train apprentices and future Service Technicians
Promote positive attitudes and high morale on the jobsite
Represent the company at various functions in the community such as trade shows, events, and career fairs
Other duties as assigned, essential or otherwise

We are located in Weatherford, Texas, however you will spend most of your time in your sales territory within Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas, with occasional trips to our office.

Desired Qualities

Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in electrical work (Required)
Customer service and communication skills with ability to develop new relationships
Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem solve with urgency
Managerial, leadership and organizational skills are essential
Strong knowledge of the construction industry & common construction tools and their usage
Ability to adjust quickly and positively to changing conditions and strategies
Ability to read, understand, interpret and follow plans and specifications
Strong knowledge of the construction industry and electrical systems
Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License (reciprocated with other States as needed) (Required)
Valid Texas Driver’s License and approved motor vehicle record (Required)
Maintain approved motor vehicle record and exhibit good driving behavior (Required)

Work eight (8) to ten (10) hours, six days a week on your feet in all elements of weather
Make transition from parking areas into construction work areas and gain access to all work areas by means of OSHA approved construction ladders or stairs
